The company is the new digital business division inside ifm group.

ifm optimizes and develops reliable technical processes with sensors and systems for our customers all over the world. The customer has been at the focus of our activities since the company was founded in 1969. To date we have over 170,000 customers in more than 85 countries with currently a turnover of over 1 Billion Euro globally and more than 7.500 employees. We provide the full end to end value chain in Industrial Automation spanning from RnD through production into Sales and the After Sales Services to our customers, supporting business across all industries. These include amongst others Logistics, Food and Beverage, Automotive for both OEM’s and End-users in all business segments from large Multinational Corporations to local midsize and small enterprises. Our product palette includes articles covering all areas of automation from position sensing to process as well as network and controls and Software Integration for Smart Factory Processes and the Industrie 4.0 relevant innovations with our Software, developed to integrate the field level sensor data into the world of IoT and IT.

In 2016, ifm went to market to acquire the necessary competency to cover the full end to end digital integration from shop floor to top floor. In the meantime, five companies have been merged into what is now ifm solutions, covering ERP business process expertise, Infrastructure and managed services competence (cloud and on-premise), big data science and AI, software development (FST, Front-End, embedded, mobile, UX/UI) and robotics. The 100% daughter company by now has more than 300 employees.

With this in addition to ifm’s core competency in the sensor business, the group is now able to shift from hidden champion in industrial automation to digital global player in iIOT or Industry 4.0

Ifm’s new digital B2B industrial platform is launching later this year.

Volker Schütz has been working in the ifm group since 1999. He is responsible as projectleader for different projects. Main focus is the product integration of new product solutions into the business processes of ifm electronic gmbh.
