Bogdan Fîrtat is Project Manager at IMT Bucharest for RO-SMARTSYS, the Romanian CHIPS Competence Centre. Coordinated by IMT Bucharest and implemented under the European Chips Act initiative, the project aims to strengthen Romania’s capabilities in semiconductors and integrate the national ecosystem into the European network of competence centres.
The Centre is designed as a single point of access for companies, start-ups, research organisations, universities and public institutions, providing technological expertise, access to testing and validation infrastructure, digital design platforms, training, technology transfer support and guidance for accessing European funding and investment.
At FACTORY 4.0 Conference 2026, Bogdan Fîrtat will deliver a dedicated presentation on the Romanian CHIPS Competence Centre and its role in strengthening Romania’s semiconductor ecosystem. He will present how RO-SMARTSYS supports innovation, skills development and technology transfer, while connecting Romanian companies and researchers with advanced infrastructure, expertise and the European CHIPS ecosystem. The initiative also targets areas such as chip design, microfabrication, robotics, smart systems, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
