Valentin Negoiță

Valentin Negoiță is a prominent voice in Romania’s ICT sector, with more than two decades of leadership in digital skills, technology, sustainability and industry collaboration.

Valentin Negoiță has been a driving force in Romania’s ICT sector since the early 2000s. Since 2003, he has served as President of APDETIC — Romania’s Association of Producers and Distributors of IT&C Equipment, supporting the growth, innovation and development of the national IT equipment industry.

 

Before his work in the technology sector, Valentin built an extensive career in business journalism, serving as Chief Editor and Executive Director of Capital business magazine between 1992 and 2000. This experience has shaped his perspective on business, technology, economic development and industry transformation.

 

He is the founder and coordinator of the Skills 4IT Coalition and a member of the European Commission’s Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition, taking an active role in the development of digital competencies in Romania. Between 2010 and 2016, he coordinated the European “e-Skills for Jobs” awareness campaigns in Romania, helping increase public understanding of digital skills and their importance for economic progress and employment.

 

Valentin also helped establish ECOTIC, Romania’s first Producer Responsibility Organization for the management of electronic waste (WEEE), in 2006, and currently serves as its President. In addition, he is a member of the Board of the WEEE Forum, where he contributes to European initiatives focused on sustainable electronic waste management and represents Romania within the international network.

 

His academic background includes a degree in Philology from Iași University (1976), training at the Business Journalism School in Bucharest (1981) and participation in the Salzburg Seminar of American Studies (1991).

 

At FACTORY 4.0 2026, Valentin Negoiță will join Panel 7, “Workforce 2026: Upskilling for the AI-Powered Factory,” where he will contribute insights into digital skills, workforce development, industry collaboration and the competencies needed to prepare people and organizations for an increasingly AI-powered manufacturing environment.
