Prof. Univ. Dr. Cristian Jura has completed several specialization programs, as well as master’s and doctoral studies in security studies and public international law.
He holds a PhD in Military Sciences from the “Carol I” National Defence University in Bucharest. His academic background also includes the National Defence College program on national security and defence, the Executive Program on Business and International Security at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies, the OSCE Summer Academy, a Master’s degree in International Humanitarian Law from the Faculty of Law at the University of Bucharest, mission preparation training for OSCE activities, and specialized studies in peacekeeping and post-conflict reconstruction.
He is a professor of Public International Law, Diplomatic Law and International Humanitarian Law at several universities.
Prof. Jura has 25 years of professional experience in combating discrimination, promoting equality and protecting human rights. In 2000, he was appointed by the Romanian Government as State Secretary within the Department for Interethnic Relations. In 2010, he was elected by the Romanian Parliament for successive mandates as State Secretary and member of the steering board of the National Council for Combating Discrimination.
At international level, since 2018, he has served as Romania’s expert within the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance of the Council of Europe.
In 2024, he was appointed Honorary Ambassador of the Romanian Red Cross for International Humanitarian Law.
