Dr. Ion-Sorin Zgură

Dr. Ion-Sorin Zgură is a researcher at the Institute of Space Science, ISS, with extensive experience in high-energy physics, space science, advanced computing and scientific research management.

His research activity includes particle physics, experimental data analysis and the use of high-performance computing technologies for processing large volumes of scientific data. He has contributed to international research collaborations and publications connected to high-energy physics and future particle accelerators.

Throughout his career, Dr. Zgură has also held major leadership responsibilities within the Institute of Space Science. The Institute of Atomic Physics recognized him for his scientific results in space science and for his long-term management activity as Director of ISS and member of the IFA Council.

He currently coordinates RONAQCI, the National Quantum Communications Infrastructure, and serves as the ISS representative within the Romanian National Quantum Communication Infrastructure initiative. The project supports the development of secure quantum communication capabilities and Romania’s participation in European initiatives such as EuroQCI.

At FACTORY 4.0, Dr. Ion-Sorin Zgură will join Panel 6, “Quantum Computing & Communication: Securing the Industrial Future,” where he will contribute insights into quantum communication infrastructure, secure connectivity, advanced computing and the role of research collaboration in protecting future industrial and digital systems.
