A former Chief Editor and Executive Director of Capital business magazine (1992–2000), Valentin brings a rich background in business journalism, which he combines with a deep commitment to digital transformation and industry collaboration.
As the founder and coordinator of the Skills 4IT Coalition and a member of the European Commission’s Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition, Valentin has taken a leadership role in shaping digital skills development in Romania. He spearheaded the European “e-Skills for Jobs” awareness campaigns in Romania between 2010 and 2016, significantly raising public understanding around digital competencies and their role in economic progress.
Beyond APDETIC, Valentin helped establish ECOTIC—Romania’s first Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO) for managing e-waste (WEEE)—in 2006 and serves as its President. He also serves on the Board of the WEEE Forum, advocating for sustainable electronic waste practices and representing Romania in European environmental initiatives. His academic background includes a degree in Philology from Iași University (1976), training at Bucharest’s Business Journalism School (1981), and participation in the Salzburg Seminar of American Studies (1991).
